Consultation of 2027-28 Admissions Policy

Notice is hereby given in accordance with legislation that the Bosco Catholic Education Trust as the admission authority for Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School is formally consulting on its proposed admission arrangements for the school year 2027-28.

 

As an admission authority, the Trust is required to consult the following:

  1. a) Parents of children between the ages of two and eighteen;
  2. b) Other persons in the ‘relevant area’ (set by the Local Authority) who in the opinion of the school have an interest in the proposed admissions (e.g. local priests, other deanery Catholic schools, etc);
  3. c) All other admission authorities within the ‘relevant area’;
  4. d) The Local Authority (LA);
  5. e) The Education Service of the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton;

 

In summary the proposed changes being made to admission arrangements are to accommodate new policies that align with the national Catholic Education Service models and wording, including:

  • - Making criteria clearer and reducing unnecessary criteria
  • - Ensuring notes are more succinct
  • - Adding children of staff
  • - Removing the reference to parishes

The six-week (minimum) consultation will begin on 3rd December 2025 with the closing date for submitting comments being 14th January 2026. If you wish to comment on the proposal, you must submit your response in writing during this period. Details of how to submit your views are set out below.

What happens next?

Following the consultation period, the Admission Authority will consider any comments received and determine how to proceed.

 

The Admission Authority will determine the final Admission Arrangements for the Academy by 28th February 2026. A copy of the Admission Arrangements will be published on the Academy’s website by 15th March 2026.
